Switzerland,La confiture and Rubarb

We've been to Switzerland the past 5 days visiting my husbands parents. They have a huge vegetable garden and so inevitably we came back with some of their produce namely Rubarbe!!
So today I decided to make jam! Istarted with chopping up the rubarbe and cooking it with its weight of sugar.
I added stawberries because rubarbe is not appreciated by everyone in this family in the middle of the cooking time (when the rubarbe starts to get soft and so that the strawberries dont get too mushy)
And I let it all cook with a vanilla bean which I sliced in two to let all the aroma come out!
After sterilizing my all time favourite bought jam jars "bonne maman" I filled and labelled them and it was as easy as that!!!

It's yummy!!!

You wanna see my room?

These iron beds are real old ones and you can find them nearly every where here: amazing hein! I had a bed similar to these as I grew up in Australia and my sister too! Who says history doesn't repeat!!!?
Here's a couple of snap shots of the "chambre" of my little princesses! I took advantage of the unusual tidyness!

This doona cover is made with some vintage yardage i found at the local thrift shop! Nobody wants "vintage" here in France for the moment ( it is coming though) so I'm having a feild day finding stuff for nearly nothing!!!! Sarah you have to come over for a shopping spree!!

Hope you liked the visit! do come and play again:)
Aurevoir et ................................................à bientôt!

Poetry in motion!

She drew the flowers, the bird and the butterflies and I sewed them on a very simple dress I made in less than 1 hour!
She's so happy to walk around with her drawing on herself!!

Spring Cleaning

It's here again ,the need to do a thorough clean up not just the daily "quickly get things in order sort of cleaning " , no , the real thing!!

Moving furniture ,getting the steam cleaner out and scrubbing away in all those corners where dust and grime gets caught up!

It also means getting rid of stuff that has been hiding in the cupboards waisting space and not being used.

Need to get 3 piles going

1) things I use and want to keep

2) things that can be given away and

3) things that need to be thrown away!

I'm talking to myself aren't I ? Just getting things organized in my head for the big move..........!

I'll be keeping you updated, it's all about motivation isn't it?!

Magnificent Magnolia

The magnolias are out and what a marvlous sight it is!! I love my Magnolia tree it reminds me of my little sister(who is a lovely mother now).

When our dad used to drive her to school they used to play "spot the Magnolia trees" !
Apparently there were quite a few Magnolia trees in Melbourne and obviously the lively 8 year old was just too quick for dad!!!!
Sorry about that dad but hey you can't be good at everything!!!
And now how about a bit of popcorn power anyone?

Picture Perfect

Inspired by the wild colours my kids use in their numerous paintings I decided to frame and decorate their hallway in equally beautiful colours!

And this is a self-portait done when I was 16.
The result is a very personalised "gallerie d'art" don't you think. And there are plenty of other artwork to be hung!!!!!!

Fushia fun

Here's the latest model finished this morning and already being worn!!

The first reaction of my husband was to start yoddeling Heidi. Obviously being Swiss the gingham made him think of little curtains in wooden chalets!!!!! Quite an imagination hein

A green top ! Green is her favourite colour and most of all it's HER STYLE!!!!! Not as well finished as the gorgeous clothing my sister at RED POSSUM Etsy makes but it will see her through the warmer months this year I think.
